Jim Todd has spent 40 years in the aerial photography business. His unique skill is being able to identify properties from 10,000 feet and shoot images at 120 knots. Jim has adapted throughout the years, having seen photography drastically change; going from enlargers and wet labs to digital files and plotters, and then from CD’s to drop box. Until now there has been two types of aerial photography, vertical (straight down) and obliques (at an angle). Four years ago, Jim teamed up with DJ Vegh after meeting him getting out of a helicopter with a strange looking camera. Having asked what the camera did, Jim’s creative artist’s imagination started racing. They saw an opportunity to change aerial photography forever and developed – Aerial Sphere – 360-degree patented rapid capture aerial photography from both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters.
While AerialSphere as a company is primarily focused on three-dimensional mapping, Jim has taken it a step further and has been traveling from coast to coast capturing 360-degree virtual reality images for his clients. His unique history as an aerial photographer gave him great insight to the potential uses beyond just mapping. Jim is confident that he is the only aerial photographer in the world to have taken thousands of spherical images and then customized these images for his clients. He has done work in the fields of Commercial Real Estate, Professional Sporting Events, Residential Real Estate, Tourism, Airports, etc.
